Petulant MP Grabs The Ceremonial Mace In Parliament To Protest Theresa May; Great Britain Grinds To A Halt

Let’s see that again, from a wider angle!

“No, no. Put it back. Put it back, you naughty boy.” Thank God for the British parliament. There really is nothing like it. More drama than the Real World: Las Vegas house. More pageantry than the Miss America pageant. It was only 10 months ago that an MP resigned on the floor because he showed up late to work. Shocking, really. Of course, the sewage-filled waters of the Thames are threatening to boil over these days as Prime Minister May, facing enormous backlash in the house, has called off the vote on the Brexit deal. But as bad as things are, I don’t think anyone expected the Brighton Kemptown MP to lose his cool so badly that he’d grab the ceremonial mace! And walk 10 feet with it before letting two older women take it right back from him. Outrage!

All jokes aside, that’s a pretty weak protest. The guy walked over and grabbed the mace like he was going to actually do something. Then he walked back and stood in the middle of the floor, brandishing the mace as though he was going to change the trajectory of the British empire in that very moment. But then, all of a sudden, you can see him change his mind. Right here:

Perhaps he realizes that he has nowhere to go. Maybe the mace is heavier than he’d thought. Either way, in this moment, he just wants to get rid of it. He knows he can’t just place it back in its holder because then he’s the biggest bitch in all of Great Britain. So he turns around and looks to hand that puppy off to the nearest taker. Once those women get their hands on it, he even nods a little bit as if to say “thank you, Jesus, this went way further than it should have.”

Finally, you’ve got some older, wiser guy patting him on the arm as if to say, “good try, buddy. Your heart was in the right place.” Thank goodness, too. Who knows if Russell-Moyle can save face without that arm tap.
